A versatile laboratory unit used for spinning the Governor (U8403100) and Rings Demonstrating Flattening of the Earth (U42503). The electronic speed control is set at the factory to cover a speed range of 0 to 5,000 RPM. The “On-Off” switch is integral with the potentiometer so that it always starts at a low speed. A pilot light shows when power is on even though the shaft may not be rotating. The motor may be clamped in a wide range of horizontal and vertical positions. The heavy cast iron 18 x 13 cm base makes a good stable foundation. The chuck, mandrel, support post and clamping screw are all made from stainless steel.
