The holding rod is a metal rod for easy grounding of the experimenter during electrostatic experiments. 
 
The rod is provided with a 4 mm bore through which an experiment cable can be connected, which is also connected to a ground connection (PE).
 
In electrostatics experiments with the electrometer (item no. 1001025 or 1001024), the rod is also used to discharge the Faraday cup (item no. 1000972).
