Embrace Inclusivity with Our Down Syndrome Manikin

Introducing the world's first child manikin with Down syndrome by Lifecast Body Simulation. Developed in collaboration with the University of Greenwich and endorsed by the Down Syndrome Association, is a lifelike representation crafted from a meticulous 3D body scan of a seven-year-old girl named Gwen, who has Down syndrome. Through the utilization of Gwen's 3D scan, Lifecast Body Simulation has brought to life the Down syndrome manikin, also named Gwen.

Gwen's lifelike features authentically capture common physical traits associated with Down syndrome, including low muscle tone, challenging airway for intubation, smaller stature, toe gap, almond-shaped eyes, a single deep crease in the palm, and smaller hands and feet.
Gwen has a spinal instability which is common in many individuals who have Down syndrome. By producing a manikin which truly represents a real child with this condition we are able to open up conversations about why she and others with Down syndrome head tilted / chin should not be lifted.

The Otolaryngoscopy society in UK recently employed Gwen the Down syndrome manikin for instructing the management of challenging airways. The feedback received was: "This is the most lifelike manikin we've ever utilized in our training."

More than just a training tool, Gwen stands as a symbol of inclusivity and diversity in healthcare education. Lifecast Body Simulation is proud to contribute to creating awareness about Down syndrome while providing healthcare professionals worldwide with an accurate and effective means of training.
