Our Open Surgical Simulation System, in conjunction with our Advanced Surgical Skills Packages, offers residents and fellows the opportunity to experience a range of trauma and general surgery scenarios in a "hyper-realistic®" high-fidelity model. This advanced system enables trainees to fully immerse themselves in the training process, to the point where they suspend their disbelief and believe they are operating on a real person rather than a simulation trainer. The Open Surgical Simulation System provides extensive injury pattern capabilities, including chest injuries such as pneumothorax, hemothorax, pericardial tamponade, right ventricular laceration, and left lung lower lobe bleeding injuries. In addition, it covers critical abdominal injury patterns, such as hemoperitoneum, grade IV liver, splenic, and left renal injuries, expanding hematomas, and injuries to major blood vessels like the left external iliac artery and inferior vena cava. The system also enables the simulation of small bowel, colon, and ureteral injuries, providing comprehensive, hands-on experience for mastering complex surgical procedures in a realistic environment. The OS3 Surgical Simulation System offers a comprehensive range of procedural capabilities, providing advanced training in a variety of high-stakes medical interventions. It supports critical procedures such as Needle Decompression, Chest Tube Thoracostomy, and Resuscitative Left Anterolateral Thoracotomy, allowing trainees to practice life-saving techniques under realistic conditions. Additionally, the OS3 enables simulation of complex surgical tasks, including cross-clamping of the thoracic aorta, Pericardiotomy, Right Ventricular Pledgeted Cardiorrhaphy, and Left Lung Wedge Resection. The system also facilitates Internal Cardiac Massage, Exploratory Laparotomy, and Supraceliac Aortic Clamping, offering a comprehensive training experience. In the realm of abdominal surgery, the OS3 includes Abdominal Packing, the Pringle Maneuver, Mattox and Cattell-Braasch maneuvers (left and right medial visceral rotations), and Kocher Maneuver for optimal surgical access. Additional capabilities include Hepatorrhaphy, Splenectomy, Left Nephrectomy, Bowel Resection with Anastomosis, Primary Repair or Shunting of Left External Iliac Artery Injury, and Suprapubic Catheter Placement. With this wide array of procedures, the OS3 ensures hands-on training for mastering essential surgical techniques in both trauma and general surgery settings.
